Throughout his illustrious career in radio, television, and stage, Alf McCarthy had one master — the audience. Everything he undertook, from producing documentaries and presenting music shows to embodying complex characters, was approached with meticulous attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a wonderful sense of humor. He firmly believed that the audience deserved to be informed, entertained, included, and to receive their money's worth.
Alf and Sharon were life partners, and he collaborated closely with Flawless Films on all our productions. This award serves to honor his extraordinary career, as the loss of a person like him is immeasurable.
The 'Alfie' Award is free to enter and is open to anyone working professionally at any level in the same fields who emulates Alf McCarthy's positive attitude. Applications will open on September 7th, 2026, and close at midnight on October 12th, 2026, with a shortlist of nominees being announced shortly thereafter.
